REIGATE GRAMMAR SCHOOL, NEW SIXTH FORM CENTRE The new sixth form centre was formed from the old dining hall which had become too small and did not fulfill the Schools current needs. On completion of the new dining hall adjacent, the old dining hall was redeveloped to form the new sixth form centre to provide a recreation space on the ground floor and a study area with computers on a new mezzanine. The existiing ceiling to the old dining hall was removed and the existing roof trusses were exposed and altered to allow for the new mezzanine level. The mezzianine is accessed via a new spiral staircase. The mezzanine has a glass and steel balustrade to maintain a strong visual link between the recreation space on the ground floor and the upper study space. A new lighting and heating system was also installed as part of the project, and the sixth form centre was linked to the Schools Computer network system. The project was completed in September 2000. |
