MARLBOROUGH COLLEGE NEW MUSIC SCHOOL AND AUDITORIUM

Henry Hony Centre incorporating the Ellis Theatre at Marlborough College. This is a 500 seat auditorium for proscenium theatre, music and theatre in the round which includes multi retractable seating arrangements and an 88 seat balcony. The auditorium includes associated control room, workshop, green rooms and a foyer suitable for recital and recording. There are also two drama classrooms. Attached via glazed link is the Music school and rehearsal rooms which total 7 practice rooms, 5 classrooms, music library and music technology suites including recording studio. All music staff offices and stores are included together with an attached amplified music room. A further glazed corridor links to a rehearsal room for 60 musicians with a further 8 practice rooms. These rooms are interlinked to the auditorium with fibre optic cabling to allow recording from foyer, rehearsal room and auditorium itself. This is currently on site and BH&M are also co-ordinating the FF&E fitting out including fitted furniture, orchestra pit covers and acoustic drapes. The building will be opened in September 2001.
